William (Bill) Frederick Davis Jr.
August 25, 1942 – September 7, 2025
William “Bill” Frederick Davis Jr., of Elkridge, Maryland, passed away peacefully of natural causes on September 7, 2025. He was 83 years old.
Born in Kingston, PA, Bill was the beloved son of William Davis and Kathleen (née Lange) Davis. A graduate of Lycoming College, he dedicated his life to education and community. He began his 40-year career with the Howard County Public School System teaching math at Ellicott City Middle School and retiring as an Assistant Principal at Atholton High School.
Never one to sit idle during his four decades with the school system and with the support of his devoted wife, he coached the Mt. Hebron High School Varsity Basketball Team, volunteered with the Howard County Youth Program (HCYP), co-founded a home improvement contracting company with a close friend, earned his pilot’s license for single-engine aircraft, and helped run his family-owned business, Foster’s Country Store.
In retirement, he worked many years at The Timbers at Troy Golf Course (where he took advantage of the employee benefits by playing countless rounds of golf), served as the President of his condo association, and could always be counted on to assist his children with numerous home improvement projects.
Bill is survived by his beloved wife of 59 years, Elizabeth (née Lamb) Davis, and their three children: Debbie Davis (Mark), William “Bill” Davis (Holly), and Michael Davis (Kimberly). He was a proud grandfather to Cecily and Madeleine, and a cherished brother to Patricia Jones (Richard) and Virginia Motyka (Stanley). He also leaves behind many loving nieces and nephews.
Bill was a character known for his love of golf, genealogy, history, travel, playing cards, and the joy he brought to his many circles of friends. He was a passionate fan of the New York Yankees, Penn State sports, and the Philadelphia Eagles—never missing a chance to cheer on his teams or talk sports with friends and family.
Bill will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by his family, friends, colleagues, and the countless students whose lives he touched.
