It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of William Eugene Sapp Jr., known to many as Bill, on April 22, 2025. Bill was born on September 3, 1954, in Baltimore, MD to the late William Sapp Sr. and Helen Sapp (Malecki). He passed away peacefully at home with his wife and children by his side after battling pancreatic cancer. Bill lived a life filled with love, passion, and connection, leaving an indelible mark on all who knew him.
Bill is survived by his devoted wife, Sheri; his beloved children, Lauren (Will), Kristen (Jim), and William III; and his treasured granddaughters, Scarlett and Piper, who knew him best as “Pop Pop.” His family was his greatest joy, and he cherished every moment spent with them. He is also survived by his siblings Denise Hendricks, Dean Sapp (Jacki), Diane Sapp, Neal Sapp (Jane), and seven nieces.
Bill graduated from Catonsville High School and earned his bachelor’s degree from Towson University. A true connector, Bill brought people together with his warmth, kindness, and vibrant personality. He had a successful career in the defense telecommunications industry and a deep passion for tennis, golf, and car racing; hobbies that reflected his competitive spirit and appetite for life. Whether at work, on the court, or sharing McDonald’s french fries with his granddaughters, Bill embraced each moment with enthusiasm and joy.
Bill's legacy lives on in the countless lives he touched with his generosity, humor, and love. He will be deeply missed but forever remembered by his family, friends, and all who knew him.
A celebration of Bill's life will be held on May 16, 2025 at St. Mary of the Mills Church, 114 St. Mary’s Pl, Laurel MD 20707 at 10:30am. A reception will follow.
