Susan Pollock Norton lived a life devoted to her family and to her Catholic faith. She died peacefully on April 21 at the Little Sisters of the Poor in Washington, D.C., surrounded by the sisters whose loving care supported her in her last years. She was 77 years of age. Susan was born in Syracuse, New York on August 19th, 1942 to John and Anne Pollock. She was the eldest of nine children. She received an undergraduate degree in education with a minor in political science from Le Moyne College, and received her masters degree in education from the University of Buffalo. She taught for many years in the Buffalo area, as well as in Massachusetts, Texas, and Maryland. Her many interests included singing—she was a member of church choirs in the various places she lived—gardening, reading, antiques, photography, classical music, and travel. She was devoted to her children and grandchildren, whom she loved to visit and cook for. Her Catholic faith was the most important aspect of her life; she attended daily mass and had a fervent prayer life. She is predeceased by her parents and her brothers Michael and Jeremiah. She is survived by her four children and twenty grandchildren, six of her siblings, and her many nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at Saint Francis de Sales Church, Washington, DC with interment following at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Silver Spring. Due to gathering restrictions, service will be limited to invited family only. Donations may be made in memory to The Little Sisters of the Poor, 4200 Harewood Road NE, Washington, DC 20017.
