Maxine V Underwood

Maxine V. Underwood, 91, passed peacefully at home in Severna Park, MD on the morning of March 20, 2026. Maxine was born to the late Ralph D. Giarth, Sr. and Eleanor Nicodemus on May 29, 1934, in Altoona, PA. She is survived by her loving daughters Debra (Deb) Yoder and Julia Souders, and son-in-law Anthony (Tony) Souders; her grandchildren Kristina Pevear (Chris) and Eric and Spencer (Stacey) Souders; and her great grandchildren Cayden Souders, Miranda, Gavin, and Christian Pevear, and Quinn and Harvey Souders. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her loving husband of 64 years, James M. Underwood (Ret. U.S. Army Sergeant Fist Class) in 2020; her brothers Ralph D. Giarth, Jr., Frederick A. Giarth, Donald I. Giarth and her sister Patricia Schuele. Services will take place in Cheltenham Veterans Cemetery at a future date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Baltimore Animal Rescue and Care Shelter, Inc. (BARCS) in her name.
