Mary Pearl Sewdass, lovingly known as Rani , passed away peacefully on January 5, 2026, after living a long, full, and meaningful life. Born on January 24, 1935, Pearl witnessed nearly a century of change, growth, hardship, love, and resilience. Through it all, she remained strong, determined, and deeply devoted to her family.

Pearl was born in Trinidad, where her roots were planted and her values were shaped. In the late 1960s, she made the courageous decision to move to the United States, paving the way for her family to follow. Her journey was one of sacrifice, strength, and perseverance. She worked tirelessly to create opportunities not only for herself, but for generations to come. Because of her bravery and determination, many lives were changed, and her legacy continues to live on through her family.

Throughout her life, Pearl experienced and accomplished so much. She carried with her stories of the past, lessons of resilience, and wisdom earned through lived experience. She was known for her presence, her spirit, and the deep love she had for her family. Pearl’s home and heart were always open, and her life was filled with memories that will be cherished and retold for generations.

Pearl is now reunited in eternal rest with her beloved husband, her siblings, her sons, and many cherished family members who passed before her. She also joins her beloved cat, Raju, who holds a special place in her heart. Together again, she rests peacefully surrounded by love. She is survived by her loving son Martin and his children Suraj, Nishad, Shiva, and Priya Matee, and his grandchildren Edward, Evan, Ethan, Keria, Maddox, and Cecilia. She is also survived by her daughters-in-law Mona and Tara, Mona’s son Dave, her nieces Judy, Radica, Rani, Lisa, Ashley along with their children and grandchildren; and countless extended family members who were touched by her life. Pearl was the heart of a large and loving family, and her influence reached far and wide.

Mary Pearl Sewdass will be deeply missed, but her memory will live on through the stories shared, the lessons passed down, and the love she gave so freely. Her life was one of strength, courage, and devotion, and her legacy will continue to guide and inspire future generations. May her soul rest in eternal peace alongside her loved ones who passed before her, reunited once more, and forever remembered.
