In Loving Memory of Kevin Michael Heister
April 3, 1966 - September 15, 2023
On September 15, 2023, the world lost a beacon of love, kindness, and unwavering support with the passing of Kevin Michael Heister. Born on April 3, 1966, at Camp Lejeune, NC, Kevin was the cherished son of Patricia Sheehan Heister and the late John Henry Heister, Jr. His sister Kelly Heister Worthington, and beloved grandparents John H. Heister, Sr., Agnes (Walter) Heister, Edwin A. Sheehan, and Charlene (Springsguth) Sheehan had welcomed him into a family overflowing with love.
Kevin's early years were spent in the embrace of Montgomery Village, MD, where he nurtured a deep passion for both sports and music. The love of music was a wellspring of joy that flowed through his heart long before his brother-in-law Jack Worthington taught him to play the guitar during college. This introduction marked the beginning of countless jam sessions and a lifelong affair with melodies. As a devoted sports fan, he ardently supported all the Washington, DC teams, with the Redskins holding a special place in his heart.
Yet, it was in his role as a husband and father that Kevin found his greatest pride and joy. For 26 beautiful years, he shared his life with Kathleen Louise (Sonefeld) Heister, affectionately known as Katie, in Buckeystown, MD, creating a home brimming with music and love. His unwavering support extended to their children, Michael Caplin Heister and Shannon Patricia Heister, especially in their pursuits of sports and music. Kevin seized every chance to express his pride in their accomplishments, always reminding them of how truly special they were.
Kevin's life philosophy was simple yet profound: be good to each other. It was a philosophy that radiated through every aspect of his life. He had an unparalleled ability to connect genuinely and authentically with every person he met. Decades of friends from all walks of life can attest that Kevin was a one-of-a-kind friend who made them feel cherished. He was compassionate and ever-reliable, leaving an indelible mark on those fortunate enough to have known him. If you were lucky enough to be counted among his friends, you undoubtedly loved him.
Kevin's memory lives on in the hearts of those he leaves behind, including his beloved wife Katie, his children Michael and Shannon, his mother Patricia, his sister Kathleen Heister Carr (Dave), his brother Kyle Michael Heister, and his treasured nieces and nephews: Kara Worthington (Andre Jimenez) , Michael Worthington (Kayla Walrath), Matthew Carr, Bennett Carr, Carolina Heister, Sean Carr, Aubrey Heister, Bianca Melendez, and Leo Jimenez. Additionally, he is survived by many cherished cousins, aunts, uncles, and extended family members.
