John G Gilbert

Honorable Army veteran and well-known Sun cab driver, John "Gary" Gilbert passed away suddenly at his home in Hampden on July 17, 2024.

Gary was a beloved and admired family man. He lived his life as a supportive husband to the late Lynn Griffith, devoted father to Jennifer, Lee, and Jeremy, and cherished grandfather to Laura Ann, Jeremy Jr, Jacob, Austin, Doreen, and Daniel.

Gary was such a kind, generous, and embarrassingly funny individual who left a lasting impression with everyone who met him. He was an avid dart shooter, keno player, and he loved solving crossword puzzles with a cup of coffee at the crack of dawn. He was a sports enthusiast who loved the Ravens and Orioles. He was passionate about horse racing and placing bets. His favorite pastime was enjoying cookouts and family gatherings. He had a strong adoration of animals, especially his three late dogs Sasha, Nala, and Scooter.

Gary will be truly missed by those who knew and loved him.

His family will receive guests for a Memorial service at a later date to be held at the American Legion Post #2 3606 Hickory Ave, Baltimore, MD 21211
