Ingrid Regina Baker, born to the late Louis Philip and Lucille Baker, fell asleep in death on Friday, April 17, 2026, unexpectedly.
Ingrid was the sixth of ninth children. Her brother, James Rhodes, Jr., and her sisters, Sheila Sparks and Phyllis Stevenson preceded her in death.
Ingrid received her education in the Baltimore City Public Schools. She furthered her education in the medical field and worked various jobs to care for her family, the last of which was as a Geriatric Nurses Assistant (GNA) at The Village at Augsburg in Baltimore County, Maryland.
Ingrid was the proud mother of four children, Eureka, Sion, Safia, and Robert. These four were the loves of her life, along with all the grandchildren and great-grandchildren she had.
Some of Ingrid’s favorite hobbies included gardening, cooking, watching African shows, listening to oldies but goodies, and taking care of her pet turtles, Turk and Molly. All who ate Ingrid’s cooking were never disappointed! All who had to be disciplined by her will never forget that either.
In the late 1970s, Ingrid started studying the Bible with Jehovah’s Witnesses. She loved what she was learning and often shared her knowledge of the Bible with others. You can say she had the “gift of gab.” Ingrid dedicated her life to Jehovah and symbolized her dedication by water baptism on July 3, 1992. She began her service to Jehovah at the Franklintown Congregation; then later transferred to the Druid Hill Congregation, along with her youngest daughter. Ingrid remained faithful to the end.
Her children, family, and acquaintances considered Ingrid a bit of a historian. She would often share stories about the family’s history and dynamics, entertaining and educating the younger generations. Her knowledge on other subjects was vast as well. We could ask her about anything and she would do her best to give an accurate answer every time. Moments like these were cherished and will be greatly missed.
Ingrid is survived by her four children: Eureka S. Ford, Sion J. Ford Sr., Safia E. Jennings, and Robert Jennings, Jr.; 16 grandchildren: Carlos Ortiz, Tyrese Dutton, Sharrod Ford, Trevon Skinner, LaShaye Ford, Kiyah Williams, Allen K. Jennings Troi Bell, Freedom Poindexter, Kyjuan Jennings, Sion Ford, Jr., Chanel Robinson, Antoine Collins, Kavon Jennings, Andre Holmes, and Ky’Cere Robert Jennings; 11 great-grandchildren; five sisters, Brenda Elliott (Robert), Vineca Harrison, Denise Durant-Bey (Charles), Janice Sheriff, and Annette Cook (Whailey); two bonus sisters, Crystal Jones and Dorrence Putty; one bonus grandson, Christopher Cowan; and a host of nephews, nieces, and other relatives and friends.
