Gwendolyn Helen Peters (née Koch), born June 5, 1937, passed away suddenly on April 23, 2026, at the age of 88. She was the beloved wife of the late Robert “Pete” Joseph Peters, Sr., with whom she shared more than 63 wonderful years of marriage. Together they raised four sons: Robert, Michael, Gregg (Sue), and Paul (Tonya).
Gwen was a proud and loving grandmother to six grandchildren: Raymond Peters; Marcella Peters (Kris); Zachary H. Peters; Julieann H. Peters (Sean); Mailee Garcia (Josh); and Clayton “CJ” Peters.
She is also survived by her brother, Richard Koch (Mary).
Gwen dedicated over 50 years to her family’s business, Wockenfuss Candies, where she combined her love of chocolate with her creative talents. As gift buyer and merchandiser, she helped shape the charm and appeal of the business for generations of customers.
Born and raised in Baltimore, Gwen had a deep love for the area. She also cherished summers spent with her family in Ocean City, where many treasured memories were made on the water—so much so that all of her children now live on or near the water.
Gwen found joy in music and dancing, cheering on the Orioles, enjoying steamed crabs, playing games, reading novels, cooking gourmet meals, and baking. Her hot milk cake and coconut cake were family favorites. She had a special talent for making every gathering feel beautiful, always adding fresh flowers to meals and celebrations. Dining out was another of her great pleasures—she was truly a “foodie” before it was a trend.
Her strong faith in God was a guiding force throughout her life, offering comfort, strength, and a foundation for the love she shared so generously with family and friends.
She shared a close bond with her cousins Carol (Larry), Paul (Lynn), and Joan (Ron), as well as their children and grandchildren.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Gwen’s life on May 6, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, with burial at the church cemetery immediately following the service. All are welcome to join the family for a luncheon after the service.
She will be remembered for her warmth, creativity, sense of humor, and the love she brought to every gathering, and she will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
