George W. McCullers, a dedicated craftsman and beloved family man, passed away on March 31, 2026, in Perryville, Maryland. Born on March 12, 1942, in Washington, DC, George lived a life marked by commitment to his craft, service to his country, and deep love for his family.
George attended Baltimore City Public Schools, culminating his education at Carver Vocational Technical High School, where he majored in cabinet making. His passion for craftsmanship led him to a fulfilling career at Display Crafts, where he worked as a cabinet maker for more than 20 years, contributing skill and dedication to his trade.
In addition to his professional accomplishments, George proudly served his country in the Navy for six years, receiving an honorable discharge. His service reflected his strong sense of duty and patriotism.
Known among his family and friends for his sense of humor, George was a loving husband and father. His interests were many and varied—he found joy in fishing, crabbing, listening to music, dancing, and watching football, even placing bets on games with a friendly competitive spirit.
George is survived by his wife, Hattie R. McCullers; his children, David McCullers (and Karen McCullers), Nicole Freeland (and Kelley Freeland), and Jarel McLeod; and his brothers, Elwood McCullers (and Geraldine McCullers) and Osie McCullers (and Dorothy McCullers). He also leaves behind a legacy cherished by a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nephews, nieces, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Hattie McCullers; his father, Otis McCullers; and his brother, Jahazel McCullers.
The visitation for George will be held on April 10, 2026, from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at the MacNabb Funeral Home located at 301 Frederick Rd, Catonsville, Maryland 21228. Following visitation, a memorial service to honor George's life will take place at the same location from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
George W. McCullers' life was one of service, laughter, hard work, and unwavering love. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him and remembered fondly for the joy he brought to his family and community.
