Elaine Glasser Roman, passed away peacefully on February 18, 2026, at the age of 81. Born

Fern Elaine Glasser, in Baltimore, MD. Elaine was the cherished daughter of Maurice Glasser

and Dorothy E Earp, both of whom predeceased her, as did her older sister, Mary Patricia

Serio (Patsy).

Elaine was also predeceased by her loving husband Charles James Roman, her childhood

sweetheart and companion of 63 years. Together, they shared a lifetime of love, adventure, and

unwavering support. She was the proud mother of Marci Smit (Steve) and Steven Roman

(Suzy), and a devoted grandmother to six grandchildren: Zachary Smit, Samantha Smit,

Jeffrey Roman, Margaret Roman, Jack Roman, and Hadley Roman. Elaine also leaves

behind her younger sister Susan Gardner (David) and niece Mary Burgess (Bob). Known

fondly by family and friends as Elaine, Aunt Elaine, Mom and Binky, she was a beloved figure in

the lives of those around her.

Elaine graduated from Edmondson High School in Baltimore Class of ‘61. Throughout her post

high school career, Elaine held various positions in banks and department stores. It was her

career at Wesley on East in Rochester, NY that was the most rewarding. She retired from her

job as lead buyer, leaving a legacy of dedication and hard work.

A woman of several interests, Elaine was known for her canning of locally sourced produce, in

particular, her applesauce made with NY State farm fresh apples. She enjoyed cooking holiday

meals for large family gatherings. Elaine’s friends and family meant the world to her and she

fiercely protected and lovingly nurtured those relationships. Her greatest joy was spending time

with her grandchildren, often reading with them and watching them play in the yard.

Elaine and Jim lived in various states, including Maryland, Pennsylvania, and New York, as they

raised their children and followed professional opportunities. In recent years, they returned to

Maryland to be closer to family, where they created even more memories with loved ones.

Elaine’s kindness, sass, and unwavering loyalty will be deeply missed by her family and all who

knew her. Her legacy of love and devotion to her family will live on in the hearts of those she

touched.
